NDRC: China Home to 156,000 Elderly Care Service Institutions and Facilities Currently
On August 2, Ou Xiaoli, Director of the Social Development Department of National Development and Reform Commission, pointed out in a special press conference that in recent years, the elderly service industry has developed rapidly and its service system has been gradually improved. By June this year, there are 156,000 elderly care service institutions and facilities of different types across China, with over 7 million beds and more than 700,000 employees.

On July 30, the Executive Meeting of Guangzhou Municipal People's Government deliberated and approved the Work Plan of In-depth Organization and Implementation of Elderly Service Projects in Guangzhou, which putts forward 56 measures of in-depth organization and implementation of elderly care projects in Guangzhou.

Shanghai Plans to Add 19 New Long-term Care Insurance Designated Nursing Institutions 
According to relevant provisions of the management agreement of Shanghai's long-term care insurance designated nursing institutions, the following 19 nursing institutions will be included in long-term care insurance designated nursing institutions after evaluation by the city and district administrative departments of long-term care insurance.

The publicity will last from July 27 to August 2.

New Regulation in Sichuan: Only Child Can Enjoy up to 15 Days of Paid Nursing Leave
The second plenary meeting of the fifth session of the 13th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Sichuan Province voted to approve the Regulations on the Protection of Elderly Rights and Interests in Sichuan Province (Amendment). The newly revised Regulations will come into effect on October 1, 2018.

The newly revised Regulations stipulate that if the elderly cannot take care of themselves during their hospitalization, employers of their children shall give them a nursing leave for no more than 15 days a year for the only child and no more than 7 days a year for the non-only-child.

Initial Investment of RMB 10 Billion to Accelerate the Layout of Elderly Care Industry   China Pacific Insurance Builds China Elderly Care Community 2.0
Recently, China Pacific Insurance Group adopted the Elderly Care Industry Development Planning of Pacific Insurance. It plans to build high-quality Pacific Garden elderly care communities in key cities in China within three to five years with an initial investment of RMB 10 billion as an important support of "strategic transformation 2.0". It will also set up a new business model of "exclusive insurance product + high-end elderly care community + high-quality professional services" through the development of insurance products of check-in in elderly care community and relevant services so as to create a perfect experience of high-quality elderly care services for its some hundred million customers.

Wuhan Plans to Implement New Policy on Elderly Service Subsidy   Up to 800 RMB/Person/Month  

On August 1, the Civil Affairs Bureau of Wuhan City published a notice on the implementation of elderly service subsidy for specially disadvantaged seniors in Wuhan (draft for comment) on its website, proposing that specially disadvantaged seniors, after passing the evaluation, can enjoy corresponding subsidy according to the evaluation score. The maximum subsidy per person per month in urban and rural areas is RMB 800 and RMB 600 respectively.
