This year, the SIC is hosted by the China Silver Industry Association, China Poly Group Corporation Limited and Guangdong Provincial Committee on Aging, with special support from the Department of Civil Affairs of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. The 8th SIC will showcase many high-tech, age-friendly products, including the lightweight and comfortable Ant-CH walking assistance robot, fully automated bed-chair robot, nursing robot that automatically detects and removes patient's waste materials, automatic bathing machine, smart toilet that performs fully automated urine tests, intelligent Chinese medicine inspectoscope for real-time self-monitoring, 24-hour cloud monitoring system that follows patient health statuses, brain activity sensor as well as mobile games developed for the elderly.

04. The first provincial smart barrier-free city forum in Guangdong is coming soon

 

According to statistics, there are 85 million disabled people, 264 million people over the age of 60, and 44 million disabled/semi-disabled elderly people living in China. Further to this, people in need of barrier-free environments account for more than 35% of the total population.

 

In order to discuss the development path of barrier-free urban construction, demonstrate the latest achievements and innovative solutions, and promote the development of barrier-free industry, the Guangdong Disabled Person's Federation, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangdong, and the Department of Transport of Guangdong Province will hold the concurrent "2021 Guangdong Smart Barrier-Free City Forum" during the 8th SIC, presenting subforums on environmental, informational, home-based and innovative barrier-free products to elaborate on the current situation and trends in barrier-free construction.

 

In addition, the forum will hold the first "Smart Barrier-free City Exhibition" in China: Portable wheelchairs accessibility on airplanes, customized barrier-free maps for wheelchair users/visually impaired people, AI speech recognition, phonetic transcription technology, screen reading software and various smart hardcore products and solutions will be presented. The exhibition site will adopt an electronic navigation system to improve the venue and help visually impaired people and other groups to enjoy a barrier-free visit.
