The China National Committee on Aging has launched its second survey on home-based care for the aged, in 12 cities including Tianjin, Chongqing, Taiyuan, and Fuzhou.
1000 citizens over 60 years old, 20 endowment enterprises, and 30 pension institutions in each city will be chosen to participate in this 3-month survey.
The survey will be conducted via internet, hotline, and social media including Wechat and Weibo. There will also be investigators in the field talking to people in-person.
The results will provide a decision-making basis for the country to improve its system of elder-care services.
Wu Yushao is the deputy director of the China National Committee on Aging.

"The survey aims to know the necessary care needed for senior citizens in second-tier cities in central and western China. We also need to know the overall situation of pension institutions in surviving, developing, marketing, management and service."
Wu adds that the survey also aims to arouse more attention from the government, society, and companies involved in the care of the elderly.
China has more than 200 million people above 60 years old, taking up nearly 15% of the country's population.
